COLLECTION 11: KINDRED VOICES RETREAT

A couple of weeks ago I had an incredible opportunity to photograph a four-day singing retreat a friend-colleague of mine was co-hosting in Starksboro, VT. It was such a heart-filled event, and just an absolutely gorgeous venue and surrounding area. The little village of cabins tucked in the woods up on a hill. The delicious and nourishing vegetarian food that was served all weekend. The power (and at times spirituality) of collectively singing with others and trying to notice and push through my own insecurities around being perceived in that way. And mostly, the kindness and generosity of every person at this event was beyond inspiring. I’ll probably write a longer post about this soon as it was a highlight of my year on this photography journey. What a safe place to do my first semi-pro photography gig.🖤 This experience really pushed me out of my comfort zone, technically, physically, and mentally. I learned some new things about my camera on the fly, and got to try out a dreamy 70-200mm lens I rented for the event. While there are certainly technical things that I’m sure I’ll get better with as I continue to learn and grow, I came away feeling really proud of what I captured.

COLLECTION 10: IT’S A MAINE THING

As we transition from late summer to early autumn here in Maine, it felt like the perfect time to shine a little light on this magical state. From Downeast, to Midcoast, to Southern Maine, there are so many moments and memories captured throughout my life here. (This one was TOUGH to whittle down to a healthy handful.) Alas, this collection mirrors the current seasonal transition we are in, starting with the saturated reds and blues of summertime to more cozy, warm tones of the later months. No matter what the season, it’s a pretty special place, and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to call it home.

COLLECTION 9: OLD ORCHARD BEACH

When a couple of my professional photographer/forever friends invited me to stroll around with our cameras at one of New England’s most quintessential summer spots, it was an immediate yes. (Having spent most of my life in Maine/NH/MA/RI, I can hardly believe I have never actually been there before?!)

These images are a mixed bag of street photography, throwback vibes, carnival chaos, and quiet stillness.

COLLECTION 8: SOFT SUMMER

From floating in a calm sea or high above the world in a hot air balloon, to a quiet hammock nap or a meaningful chat with a friend under an apple tree, this collection has me longing for the slow, soft, dreamy days of summer that are just around the corner.

COLLECTION 7: CHILDHOOD MAGIC (B+W)

This past weekend was Mother’s Day, so it felt like the perfect time to share some of the photos that remind me of the gift of this beautiful child of mine. And to be a celebration of the magic, wonder, and innocence of childhood.

COLLECTION 6: SOFT & MOODY

The early days of Spring have arrived here in Maine, which felt like the perfect time to share this series of images that capture the quiet, moody softness during the change of seasons. Makes me want to sip a warm bev, get cozy under a blanket, and drift off for a nap.

COLLECTION 5: SYMMETRICALISH

When things are feeling chaotic and tumultuous, it feels nice to stare at some simple, satisfying symmetry. A big part of what draws me to Wes Anderson films I guess? That balance. A centered focal point. But of course, there’s always just a wee bit of tension, too.

COLLECTION 4: ITALY

One of the most magical experiences of my life was our trip to Italy in 2009. We stayed in Cortona, an incredible medieval town nestled in the hillside of the Arezzo province in Tuscany. We also took day trips to Florence and Rome which was kind of bonkers to try to fit each of those cities into a single day! MUST. GO. BACK.

COLLECTION 3: WINTER CHILL

Winter can be pretty brutal here in New England but it can also be so incredibly beautiful. This collection is a celebration of the beauty that can be found among the ice, frosty winds, and peaceful calm after a snowfall.

COLLECTION 2: CITY VIBES

Experiencing new cities is incredibly inspiring. Trying new food. Strolling around museums, botanical gardens, and sidewalks. Learning about other people and cultures. The best. This collection features images from Boston, NYC, Providence, Santa Monica and NOLA to Barcelona, Spain and Cortona, Italy.

COLLECTION 1: SUMMERY PEACH & TEAL

What’s more summery than cannonballs, ripe peaches, sparklers, and a dreamy soft sunset in LA? This collection is making me nostalgic for more daylight hours, warm nights, and time spent lazing by the pool. Especially as a fresh coat of snow covers everything here in Southern, Maine at the time I put this collection together.
